The Hubble Space Telescope, known for its visible light observations, teamed up with the infrared-sensitive James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to reveal new details of this celestial phenomenon. The Pillars in 3D

Set in the Eagle Nebula, 6,500 light-years from Earth, the Pillars of Creation are towering structures of gas and dust where stars are born. This new animation, based on data from a study led by Anna McLeod of the University of Durham, visualizes the pillars in a breathtaking 3D format. Each telescope’s unique perspective adds depth: Hubble’s images show bright yellow ionized gas, while JWST’s views reveal sharper clouds and hidden newborn stars.

Contrasting Views of the Universe

The differing perspectives offered by Hubble and JWST are due to their distinct observational capabilities.
